Corinthians 12:2 "If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together."
A vacation is a great way to relax, regroup and gain focus of what matters most. But, it does not matter how nice or beautiful the vacation resort or one’s favorite location to steal away, this saying is still true... “there is no place like home”. I am speaking of the earthly residence that is. I was all packed and ready to head back from a much needed time of rest. But, something went wrong with the foot I depended on to drive with--it was in a helpless and painful state! I felt helpless and pain after trudging my phalanges toe (baby toe) on the edge of a steel suitcase. Ouch! It was very, VERY painful. All I could say was, “Oh Lord, please help me…please help ease the pain Lord Jesus", oooh it hurts so bad. Then, I climbed onto the bed or rather crawled holding my right foot close as a precious member of my entire body. Suddenly, my daughters (who were close by) came running into the room inquiring what happen. At the moment (because of the pain) I could not communicate the “how’, so to speak of what happened. The only thought that took precedence in my mind, and complete body was the excruciating and throbbing pain. The throbbing pain that did not ease even after applying pressure, ice and a warm towel. Honesty, I was not sure what to do. I just wanted the pain to stop. But it did not. Nevertheless, after several minutes of holding my toe, I mustered enough strength to whisper how the injury occurred. I shared that it was an unusual situation and that I bumped my toe on the edge of the suitcase.
Looking surprised, but extremely concerned throughout the process, my daughters begin to offer first aid treatment with caring arms as best they knew how. In retrospect, I am grateful that they were there to offer a caring hand. Later that evening, the incident caused me to remember the members of the body of Christ that are suffering and in distress. I realized the importance of each toe on my foot and compared it to each member of the body of Christ-- what a painful but wonderful illustration. I realized how I needed each toe in order to (function) walk correctly. Each member of the body of Christ is joined together and is vitally needed to function. I have learned this simple bible one-on- one truth and will hold it dear. All of the bodily members are important-- Can the head say to the feet, "I have no need of you"? (See 2 Corinthians 12:21) The head may think, "I would like to get into that car and drive off." But how will the head get into the car without the feet? The feet are terrible when it comes to thinking and the head is terrible when it comes to walking. The feet need the head to think and the head need the feet to walk.
So, earnestly I am asking for strength and health for those that are known personally who are suffering in local churches( body of Christ) and nationwide. My prayer is for those that are really suffering, and need to experience the healing touch of Jesus Christ which was promised to the Believer. I was able to experience how beautiful each member the body of Christ are. And the lyrics to the song, “ How Beautiful “ by Twila Paris begin to play softly in my mind. This song is a special dedication to the members of the body of Christ that are suffering through sickness, discouragement, pain or any sort of hurt--physically or mentally. May it be used as a worshipping (weapon) tool in the mist of any circumstance.
This song is also a BEAUTIFUL message of the heart of Jesus for His bride and the price that he has paid for humanity. May everyone that is in need of a miracle for healing receive His healing power today. As the body of Christ, we are called to confess our sins and pray at all times, and for one another. .. It is my personal conviction to do just as it is stated in the bible. James 5: 16 “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Although the incident that occurred a few nights ago was a small matter, and not to be compared with those that are really suffering, it was used as a tool to reflect the bigger picture for other members of the body of Christ and to really, really lay my life down for (a friend) the hurting. John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
I worship today by declaring that, if one suffers, we all suffer, and if one member is honored, we all will rejoice together… I decree blessings and encouragement today for each member of the Body of Christ. May the Lord open His loving arms (which is greater) to bring comfort where comfort is needed, healing where healing is needed and strength for the journey as we continue to run the race with patience. Hebrews KJV 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” Foreveworship!
