Would You Be Made Whole?

Do you want to be healed?

When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” John 5:6

This was a question I’ve asked myself in the past and recently, my response was yes then and yes now. When life happens (and it will) that is not the time to sit and point fingers or play the blame game, or even wallow in self-pity. Do you want to be freed from an unfruitful lifestyle of hopelessness? If so, What is the process?

First, Jesus acknowledged that the man was ‘lying’ there (he sees us as well) Secondly, He recognized that he’d been in the present condition a long time (he sees our ‘long time’ too) Finally, He got right down to business-- Do you want to be healed? Jesus didn’t take for granted that the man wanted to be healed or freed from the bondage that kept him down. He asked him a question, which needed an answer. The man may have been okay in his present condition considering he had been there awhile. I believe that is why Jesus asked him, ‘do you want to be healed’. There has to be an acknowledgment that something is wrong before he was allowed to move forward- that something is broken before it can be fixed. Nevertheless, the compassion that Jesus had for the man in what appeared to be a hopeless state of being is still being offered for us today. No matter the situation, circumstance, or whatever the case may be, Jesus was the hope that the man desperately needed. He is still the hope that we SO desperately need today. In fact, He is the only answer for all problems. Just as He was compassionate enough to help the man who had been in that hopeless state for a long time…. He desires to help us now. He desires that our minds be healed of the sin that separated us from God. He desires to extend a hand to lift us up from the bondage that keeps us lying down. So, He’s asking today do you want to be healed? Will you allow the finish work on the cross to make you into the women God intended for you to become? Would you enter into a personal relationship with Him? Would you dare to be courageous and take up your bed and finally walk (not blaming anyone) would you forgive and repent of all that has alienated (separated) you for the life of God, would you be made whole? Would you confess your sins and allow his forgiving hands to heal your broken heart just as it did mine. If so, there is another step to take, verbally respond to the question by answering hopefully, YES….I WILL BE MADE WHOLE!!!
Allow Christ to reveal the arrears in your life that needs be healed. Don’t hold back and pretend that you are already “made whole’, when your heart is still breaking, disappointed or rejected over whatever the case may be. If you are already “healed’ –thank God for His amazing grace in your life. If not, accept the invitation to be healed!
