I Will Not…
Be moved by my feelings, and my surrounding. As we offer our lives in praise and worship to the most Holy Lord, we must not be ruled by our feelings or emotions. Instead, we must make every effort to place our feelings under submission, especially when it is not convenient to do so. Hebrews 5:7 (NIV)—…“ During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission”. There were two synonyms for the word reverent that captured my attention: awed and worshipful. It captured my attention because, those two words are not based on how we feel, but rather it is how we position ourselves in the presence of the living God. As we worship in songs, our work environments and enjoyment times; it is important that we stand in awed of his mighty deeds with a worshipful heart.
Don’t' allow your feelings to rule. I love how Isaiah 50:5-7 (NIV) communicates the truth of determination through submission: “The Sovereign Lord has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back. I offered my back to those who beat me, my cheeks to those who pulled out my beard; I did not hide my face from mocking and spitting. Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like fling, and I know I will not be put to shame”. We must be determined enough to say, I will NOT be moved from what is right. I will NOT allow Satan to make me doubt that the Lord is with me. I will NOT fear. I will NOT lose heart. I will NOT draw back because of insecurity, fear, unbelief or inadequacy feelings. I will NOT be tossed. But, I will offer my life to the Lord, and allow him to heal, restore and make me whole. I will NOT hold back but, I will offer my finest today and forever. May the love of our Lord, Savior and King shine though your darkest hour with his radiant light of truth to do his will.
